"Organizational Behavior" Class: Wonderful Practice of Communication and Conflict Theory Publication

Aunique event of the 23 e-commerce class of International Education (Foreign Languages) College came to a successful conclusion. This activity skillfully integratedthe knowledge of communication and conflict theories from“Organizational Behavior”class, offering students a unique learning experience.

During the event, the teacher Liang Minjie divided the students into three groups to perform sitcom dramas. Each group carefully prepared wonderful plots, which revolve around various scenes, vividly showing the reflection of communication and conflict in the organization. During the sitcom performance session, the groups showed conflicts between school clubs due to competition from ministers, conflicts between company employees due to division of labor, and conflicts between children and the elderly in the community for leisure and entertainment.

During the communication process, the conflicts were further escalated due to improper communication methods; some groups presented different opinions from team members on the allocation of project resources, from the initial harmonious discussion to the later sensation of heated debate due to misunderstandings. The subsequent debate sessions were even more climaxed. Each group needs to debate the stories shown in the sitcom, and the key to judging the outcome is whether the judges who play the role of "college student judges". During the debate, one group emphasized that clear and accurate communication is the key to resolving conflicts in conflict scenarios. They pointed out that many of the reasons for the deterioration of conflicts in situ dramas are the lack or misunderstanding of information communication. The other side believes that conflict itself is not a completely bad thing. Moderate conflict can inspire innovation. The key is to establish good communication channels to guide conflict in a positive direction. For example, in a certain sitcom, the conflict between team members prompts them to re-examine the project plan and ultimately find a better solution.

Throughout the process, communication theory is everywhere. Players need to use clear expression, reasonable logic and appropriate body language to express their views, while also keenly capturing the information in the other party’s discourse, which is like the sublimation of efficient communication within the organization. Conflict theory is the core of the debate, and debates between groups are fierce collisions of different ways of understanding and handling of conflicts.

This activity not only gave students a deeper understanding of communication and conflict theory in organizational behavior, but also exercised their teamwork, expression and critical thinking. The students all said that this way of learning and entertainment makes knowledge no longer boring and truly "live". This activity also provides new ideas and models for the teaching of organizational behavior, laying a good foundation for cultivating students' organizational behavior practice abilities.
