On the afternoon of September 26, the Public English Teaching and Research Department of International Education (Foreign Languages) College held the 2024 Kaifeng University English “Challenge Cup” Preliminary Contest in Building No. 15. Over 170 students from non-English majors across the university participated.

The contest consisted of two sections: English speaking and writing. The speaking section assessed participants' pronunciation, intonation, reading fluency, as well as their abilities to interpret information, think logically, and organize language spontaneously. The writing section required participants to complete an essay on a given topic, testing their writing skills.The judges evaluated the participants fairly and selected winners for first, second, and third prizes. Outstanding contestants were chosen to represent the university in provincial and national “Challenge Cup” competitions.

This event enhanced students' comprehensive professional skills in using English for international communication, problem-solving, and task completion. It also boosted their ability to tell Chinese stories and spread Chinese culture in English, fulfilling the integrated talent development requirements of “job, course, competition, and certification.” The contest provided a platform for students to showcase their talents, refine skills, express aspirations, and pursue dreams.
