On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CommunistParty of China, the first "Telling Chinese Stories in English" Speech Contest at Kaifeng University, organized by the Party Organization Department of our university andhosted by the School of International Education, was successfully held in the International Education Report Hall of Building No. 5 on the afternoon of June 4.

This competition is one of the university's series of activities themed "A Hundred Years of Heartfelt Words to the Party — Saying a Heartfelt Word to the Party at the Age of 100", with the theme of "Telling Good Chinese Stories and Spreading Chinese Culture". The participants were outstanding students selected from various faculties of the university, especially student party members who have joined the party for about a year. The designated book for the competition is "Telling Chinese Stories in English",from which participants chose an article on the theme of the party's history and presented it in the form of an English speech, lasting 3-5 minutes. The competition began preparations in late April, with online preliminary rounds held from the end of April to mid-May, where about 50 contestants uploaded their competition videos, and16 contestants were selected for the final. The final was held on-site, with four English teachers from non-competing faculties serving as judges. The finalists had standard pronunciation, exquisite courseware, and delivered their speeches with grace, all performing at an ideal level. After nearly two hours of intense competition, one Grand Prize, two First Prizes, five Second Prizes, and eight Third Prizes were awarded.

This competition, as part of the university's party history education, enabledstudents to deeply learn about the stories of the party's history, deepen their understanding and love for the party, stimulate students' interest and enthusiasm for learning English, and improve their English speaking skills. At the same time, it is also a gift to the great party on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundingof the Communist Party of China.
