On the afternoon of December 7th, the School of International Education successfully held the 7th "English Reader" competition in the lecture hall of Building 5, which is one of the series activities of the School of International Education's Chinese and Foreign Culture Festival. All the team members of the School of International Education, foreign teachers WANG SHUAI and Jiang Dashan, deputy director of the Department of Scientific Research and Foreign Affairs, attended the competition, and English teachers of the school served as judges.
The competition requires students to choose a poem or short article that interests them from a recommended English learning website and read or recite it for 1-2 minutes. After the preliminary competition in the early stage of the college, 29 students entered the final. The English teachers of the College gave detailed and patient guidance to the students before the final. During the competition, the students read fluently and clearly, fully demonstrating their English skills and youthful style, and finally awarded 2 first prizes, 8 second prizes, and 10 third prizes. WANG SHUAI, a foreign teacher, commented on the wonderful performance of the contestants.
By holding this reading contest, we can stimulate the interest in learning English, experience the beauty of reading rhythm, and show the positive spirit of college students. Promoting learning through competition enhances students' English language sense and language expression ability.
