The International Education College’s second English calligraphy competition, which spanned three weeks, has successfully wrapped up. The competition kicked off in early October with the theme“Show My Charm with BeautifulLetters,”featuring two main events: an English Handwritten Newspaper Contest and an English Sketching Contest.

In the English Handwritten Newspaper Contest, participants from the 2018 classes formed teams, with each team creating a piece focused on the theme of cultural exchange between China and the West. Following a vote by college faculty, prizes were awarded to one team for firstprize, three teams for secondprize, and five teams for thirdprize. The English Sketching Contest unfolded over three phases: the preliminary round, semi-finals, and finals. Based on the scores given by professional teachers, 24 out of more than 50 entries made it to the finals, where two entries won first place, four won second place, and eight won third place.

This competition aimed to cultivate a better understanding of proper English writing and foster greater enthusiasm for learning the language among students. The 2018 freshmen took part eagerly, enhancing the college’s overall environment for learning English, enriching students’extracurricular activities, demonstrating the dynamism of modern university students, and boosting both their writing awareness and interest in English learning.
