Site news On the afternoon of April 15, the English Speaking Competition final of 2021 Student Vocational Skills CompetitionofKaifeng University was held in the lecture hall of the sixth floor of Civil Engineering.

Zhao Hui, member of the university party committee and vice president, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. She said that vocational skills competitionwas an important way to improve the quality of vocational education in our university, and itwas a booster for curriculum and teaching reform, teacher team building and talent cultivation. By organizing the English Speaking Competition, it showed the English speaking ability and style of our students, and stimulated the enthusiasm of students of all majors inour school to learn English. This competitionwas not only a centralized test of the teaching level of our English teachers, but also a wonderful demonstration of the effectiveness of our students’ oral English learning, which had opened the prelude to the vocational skills competition in our school.

The competition was divided into two stages, preliminary and final, according to the two groups of English majors and public English, 30 contestants were selected from more than 200 applicants to enter the final. The four-hour-long final was divided into three parts: self-introduction, chart description and on-site communication. During the competition, the contestants demonstrated their fluent oral English expression ability, and the venue rang with applause from time to time, and the atmosphere of the site was very warm. After a fierce competition, Zhou YixuanfromClass 1in 19 Business English Major, Jin YuhanfromClass 3 in 20 Applied English Major, Liu YufromClass 3 in20 Applied English Major, won the first prize of English Professional Group, and Li JingwenfromClass 2 of 20 Costing Majorin School of Civil and Architectural Engineering, Jia Xinfeng from Class 1 of 20 Journalism MajorinSchool of Humanities, and Xi Yuhao from Class 2 of 20 Investment MajorinSchool of Finance and Economics won the first prize of Public English Group.

After the competition, two professors, Zhang Xiufang and Fan Yanping, made a wonderful comment on the competition. They said that the competition was a high-level English speaking competition, and they were very pleased to see the excellent performance of the students, and encouraged them to accumulate vocabulary diligently, speak English boldly, andconstantlyimprove their English application ability.

This English Speaking Competition provided a stage for students to exercise and show themselves, enhanced students’ interest in English learning, formed a strong English learning atmosphere, and enlivened the campus cultural life.
