On May 9, “The 8^th Henan Vocational College Skills Competition and the 2015 National Vocational College Oral English Competition in Henan Province”, sponsored by Henan Provincial Department of Education and co-organized by Henan Tianyi Education Group, was successfully held in our school. Wan Pengjie, member of the Foreign Language Teaching Committee of Colleges and Universities in Henan Province, President of the English Branch of Junior College, Vice President of Anyang Institute of Technology, Bai Wusi, President of our school, Zhao Hui, Geng Guangli, judges of the competition, contestants from participating universities and instructors participated in the opening ceremony of the competition.

At the opening ceremony, President Bai extended a warm welcome to all the experts,teachers and students of our sister universities, and wished the competition a complete success. On behalf of the organizing committee of the competition, President Wan expressed his gratitude to the leaders and relevant departments of our university for their help and support, and hoped that all higher vocational colleges and universities would take this competition as an opportunity to further improve the practical application ability and comprehensive quality of students' English, so that the overall level of junior college English teaching in our province would rise to a higher level.

A total of 72 contestants (including English majors and non-English majors) from 50 universities across the province participated in this competition. The judges of the competition are Guo Aixian, Qiu Tianhe, Zhao Zenghu and Zhao Wenjing, foreign language experts from our province, and Janet and Roopa, foreign teachers. After fierce competition, a total of 7 first prizes, 15 second prizes and 21 third prizes were awarded. Sun Lei and Pan Xuemin won the first prize of the English major group and the second prize of the non-English major group respectively.
