The International Education College’s third English Calligraphy Contest, held on October 31, has concluded successfully. Kicking off in early October with the theme“Standardizing English Writing, Showcasing Our Youthful Style,” the Contest featured two mainparts: an English Handwritten Newspaper Contest and an English Writing Contest, with all participants being freshmen.
In the English Handwritten Newspaper Contest, students from the class of 2019 worked in groups to produce one piece each. After voting by college faculty, three first prizes, five second prizes, and nine third prizes were awarded from 31 entries. The English WritingContest was divided into two stages: preliminaries and finals. For the preliminaries, each class selected 10 English writing pieces, and from over 50 entries, 25 pieces were chosen to advance to the finals, which involved on-site writing. The final awards included two first prizes, five second prizes, and eight third prizes. All winning entries were displayed at the college.
As one of the International Education College’s signature events, the English Calligraphy Contest has been held for three consecutive years. The active participation of the 2019 freshmen highlighted their talents, fostered a vibrant English learning environment, and increased students’ awareness and interest in writing.
